JuicyTimes…
lots to contend with
the good, the bad & the indifferent..

in the northern hemisphere Summer Solstice is on
Thursday June 20th @ 9.50pm 2024

we are all shape shifters…
always changing…impermanent
yet what remains the same?
what is looking…
that which is indestructible

kitchen sink studio is comprised of a group of
like-minded folk known as tribe
the many faces of each always changing, morphing:
we aspire to not substantialise ourselves…recognising impermanence…
honouring our skills, strengths & talents, practicing self-affection

here is some work from the studio – with ‘sketchbook love’ re-ignited by
artist Helen Wells so generously sharing her inspiring gifts

inspiration too arose in taking up
the mindful writing 5-day challenge
offered (gratis) by Nadia Colburn, writer, poet
and dedicated student of Thich Nhat Hanh

everything in the garden is blooming, the daisies have sown themselves,
flourishing in between the cracks in the flagstones…naturally…

what do we do to take care of ourselves?
extending deep loving kindness to ourselves
takes a magnificent & generous amount of compassion
embracing ourselves with such self affection
we honour our authentic selves, as we are
& thus expand the permission field for the benefit of all
@ tribe we call it
DIVINE SCAFFOLDING
that which supports you,
is pertinent to each time, place & circumstance
and arises one short moment at a time

some samples from tribe, remembering
we each have our preferences
our own unique choices
& what chimes for one
clanks for another!
there is no rule book!
watching an uplifting documentary*, eating ice cream, having a massage,
going on an artist date, walking widdershins round the block,
being by the ocean, taking deep breaths, noticing differently, being spontaneous,
listening to soothing sounds, dancing round the kitchen, being in silence,
receiving therapy, writing & posting a love letter to your self,
speaking out, saying nothing, doodling, making a gift for someone dear,
acknowledging a friend, being in nature, feeling the energies in your body
intentional gratitude, writing morning pages, envisioning your day,
smiling @ a stranger, giving thanks, bringing the mind back to the body….
(*highly recommend The Economics of Happiness
pioneer activist visionary Helena Norberg-Hodge’s
documentary 1hr 8mns)

yearning for the ocean,
asking friends for help, magic happens
the ocean comes forth in unexpected ways
rock on: the mysterious, the ineffable, the indescribable…

continuing the series….3, or 4, books by the bed…

I Said to the Wanting Creature
“I said to the wanting-creature inside me:
What is this river you want to cross?
There are no travellers on the river-road, and no road.
Do you see anyone moving about on that bank, or nesting?
There is no river at all, and no boat, and no boatman.
There is no tow rope either, and no one to pull it.
There is no ground, no sky, no time, no bank, no ford!
And there is nobody, and no mind!
Do you believe there is some place that will make the
soul less thirsty?
In that great absence, you will find nothing.
Be strong then, and enter into your own body;
there you have a solid place for your feet.
Think about it carefully!
Don’t go off somewhere else!
Kabir says this: just throw away all thoughts of imaginary
things, and stand firm in that which you are.”
Kabir
