celebrating the change in the season

in the northern hemisphere
cracks in Earth’s magnetosphere
may spark auroras
equinox marks the day when we experience roughly
the same amount of daytime and nighttime.
dawn comes later, and sunset earlier birds
and butterflies are migrating south along with the path of the sun,
trees and plants are ending their year’s cycle of growth.
Perhaps they’re responding with glorious autumn leaves,
or a last burst of bloom before winter comes….
summer: a time of retreat*, being in nature,
travel & reflection, sweet sorrow at summer’s end
…moving now into a new season of darkness
exploring the inner realms
& creating anew
honouring the seasons:
recognising the natural beauty of each one
and navigating together through their unique qualities
….for some September is a time of new beginnings,
learning & exploration…..
nature nurtures
over the summer we looked after
artist neighbours Polly & Flora’s sunflower plants
in return they graced us with
the generous gift of their artwork:

going away for the summer collage retreat was a real treat:
being taken care of, fed, watered
and given time to create for four days
with artist tutor Jacqui Mair
…who created ambience, joy, possibility & superb guidance….
here are some of the works we created
1st eve produced a collage in about 10minutes
then each day we made our own collage papers, mono prints, books & cards…
taking time, stepping out of our usual habitat……filling the creative well

Lilla was chuffed to see it was a dahlia garden
as Dahlia is a name she claimed last year
and round every corner another beautiful view
or artefact lovingly rose to meet us…
