honouring darkness, fear and sorrow, and their transmutation
this ancient festival honours the ancestors,
their spirit and wisdom,
and acknowledges other and all worlds
a time the Celts believed the veil between
the living & the dead was especially thin

It’s the time of the crone or wise woman
Many countries celebrated and recognised the female goddess at this time of the year
As we know from history in the Middle Ages
the wise woman became a threat, an object of fear.
Hag, originally meaning holy woman,
soon incorporated women who were midwives and herbalists
who quickly became labelled as witches and were ruthlessly persecuted….
celebrating elders
crones
hags
older women
all women who have owned their agency and are
powerfull, vulnerable, creative, empowering, compassionate…
we’re dropping the derogatory meanings these names have come to imply

Dear Lilla,
From the first time l met you, way back when we were pursuing our teaching certificates – and the summer project working with traveler children under the Westway, I’ve had the greatest admiration and affection for you.
You and Johnny guided me into a spiritual exploration which has bourne many fruitful paths in my life, while moving in to look after Daisy; so kind and thoughtful of you.
I’m on the way to Bath for the weekend to belatedly celebrate my 81st birthday , something which slightly astonishes me (81 – not Bath).
Daisy leaves tomorrow with her partner Pete for Ottawa where Pete will give a talk and Daisy’s son Zach will fly up from Denver to join them.
Even though we are rarely in touch now, l am always grateful for your presence in my life, and continue to enjoy your creativity.
